Moses, my name is I Am

God has many names in the Bible that describes His character and attributes. In the same way that someone named “Tom” might also be called “father” or “husband” or “the boss,” God has names that describe Him and His relationship with His people.

During the Old Testament times, the Hebrews considered the Hebrew name for “God” so holy that they wouldn’t even pronounce it. So, when God appeared to Moses in a burning bush and sent Him to lead the Israelites out of Egyptian captivity, Moses asked God, “Who should I say sent me?” After all, He couldn’t breathe the name of God in public. God replied by saying, “Moses, my name is I Am.” (Exodus 3:14, NIV) In other words, “I am anything and everything you need. I am your joy. I am your peace. I am your strength. I am your health. I am your way to freedom. I am whatever you need.”

Darkest Valley

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.. (Psalm 23:4, NIV)

Oftentimes, difficult situations do not make sense.  We may have a lot of questions. Sometimes these questions get answered, and oftentimes they do not. That’s when we have to be willing to trust God and gain the assurance that He is walking with us. He promises to never leave us nor forsake us, especially when we walk thru life’s darkest hours. Do not be discuraged nor throw in the towel, be strong for God is on your side and by your side.  As you trust in Him, He will lead you and guide you into the place of blessing He has prepared for you.

False Evidence Appearing Real

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (fear) but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. II Timothy 1:7, NIV

The Word of God says that fear is a spirit.   It plays on our emotions and holds us back. But the good news is that we have power over fear! The Bible says that perfect love casts out all fear.  When we receive God’s perfect love, we will have confidence about the future because we know His plans are for our good.  Have you heard it said that fear is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.  That means fear is a lie.  Today, I choose to believe God’s Word and receive His love so I can overcome fear and go forward in life.  How about you?
