Faith – Our Response to the Word of God

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1 (KJV)

Faith is an attribute of the human spirit and does not operate in the physical realm. The Word of God acts as a container or vessel that transports faith from the spiritual realm to our inner man.

Faith was imparted to our spirit when we were born again (Rom 12.3) Thus every time we hear the Word of God, faith goes through our mind into our spirit. This is because faith was designed for our human spirit.

So now when we receive the Word of God (which is also spirit), into our spirit, it becomes more real to us than the ‘realities’ our physical senses perceive. Hence, if the bible says that ‘faith is the evidence of things we do not see’ then faith is the evidence of what the Word says.

Faith accepts and exalts what the Word says above all natural circumstances. Therefore, faith is the response of the human spirit to the Word of God. This is why it is vital for us to daily meditate on the Word.

The spiritual reaction that is ignited between our spirit and the Word of God, will give us dominion over every circumstances of life. Then we will have the assurance that we are who God says we are, we have what He says we have, and can do whatever He says we can do.
